Pied Mynas are found throughout the Indian Subcontinent and Indochina, Thailand,  Malaysia and Indonesia. They are increasing in range and are now established in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Japan.

Habitat

Pied Mynas are commonly found on open plains and low foothills where there is  access to open water. They frequent urban environments, particularly sewage farms and refuse tips.

Feeding

Pied mynas are omnivores and often forage in open ground.  They will eat grains, fruit, earthworms, insects, spiders and molluscs.

Breeding

Pairs of pied mynas build, either in a tree or manmade structure, an untidy straw, domed nest with a side entrance. Both parents incubate four to six glossy blue eggs and chick rearing is also shared.
