The colourful coppersmith barbet is a common resident in much of the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. It Is found in woodland, groves, gardens and parks wherever there are dead trees to excavate.
Feeding
The coppersmith barbet has an eclectic diet ranging from figs, berries and flower petals to the occasional insect which it catches in flight.
Breeding
Both male and female coppersmith barbets excavate holes which they use for both nesting and roosting. Both parents also incubate the three to four eggs and rear the chicks.
