The African dusky flycatcher is a common resident from South Africa northwards to Ethiopia, South Sudan, Central African Republic and Nigeria.
Habitat
The African dusky flycatcher inhabits woodlands including riverine forest, forest margins and suburban gardens. It also prefers to be in the proximity of water such as lakes and streams.
Feeding
The dusky flycatcher feeds by catching insects on the wing or on the ground.
Breeding
The African dusky flycatcher is monogamous and nests in tree cavities not far from the ground to which it returns the following year.
